YOUTH HOCKEY LEAGUES
Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association is the official youth hockey association for Cool Sports and our Youth Hockey programming. We offer leagues, programs and clinics for ages 4, all the way through age 18. Hockey develops life skills that build a foundation for a child’s confidence, pride, focus and responsibility. Starting with the bonds created in the locker room to the relationships formed on the ice, hockey creates friendships that last a lifetime. Hockey’s unique structure ensures that your child learns to love the game while promoting a healthy lifestyle, social wellness and mental well-being. The encouraging environment hockey provides helps kids grow as both hockey players and people.
Our hockey programs are run by Cool Sports and teams play as the “Knoxville Predators.” For those new to hockey, check out our 8U Hockey Roadmap.

Winter Rec League 2024-2025
Welcome to the official 2024-2025 hockey season at Cool Sports, running five months from October through March, packed with action and development for all ages.
Join our exciting Winter Rec League and experience the thrill of youth hockey with station based training and competitive play. The season starts in October and features a variety of special events, including our popular “glow puck” sessions and Winter Classic Series Outdoor games. See below for more details.
2024-25 WINTER SESSION
8U MITES
Mites (8u):
Start Date: Wednesday, October 16th
Special Events: 2 glow puck sessions and 3 outdoor games
Mighty Mites:
- Schedule: Practices on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM – 7:50 PM; games on Saturdays at 8:20 AM
- Requirements: Players should have at least one season of mini mite experience. Contact the hockey department for more details.
Mini Mites:
- Schedule: Practices on Wednesdays from 6:10 PM – 7:00 PM; games on Saturdays at 7:30 AM
- Requirements: Suitable for players with at least 1 session of hockey experience. New skaters from LTP 2.0 or Learn to Play should consult the hockey department.

The total fee for the mite program is $575.
2024-25 WINTER SESSION
10U SQUIRTS
Squirts (10U):
- Season Starts: Monday, October 14th
- Schedule: Station-based skill practices on Mondays at 5:40PM; games on Saturdays starting at 9:50 AM (varies by team/game rotation)
- Special Events: 2 glow puck sessions and 3 outdoor games
There will be 4 teams and 2 game slots.
Drills will focus on fundamental based skills like skating, passing, shooting, puck handling, etc.

2024-25 WINTER SESSION
12U & 14U PW | B
PeeWee/Bantam (PW/B):
- Season Starts: Monday, October 14th
- Schedule: Engage in station-based skill practices every Monday at 6:40 PM, complemented by weekly full-ice games on Saturdays at 11:20 AM & 12:20 PM.
- Special Events: Skills Competition and Outdoor 3 v 3 Game
Drills will focus on fundamental based skills like skating, passing, shooting, and puck handling.

LEARN TO PLAY
Cool Sports offers a Learn-to-Play program for beginners ages (4) through (10) in Winter, Spring, Summer, & Fall! The “Learn to Play” program is the most easy, fun and affordable way to get your child started in hockey.
For 12 weeks, this program combines skating fundamentals, hockey development lessons, and tons of fun to help your little players find a love for the game! This program is a great value!
Learn to Play 2.0 is a 6 week program designed for boys and girls who have graduated from out LTP Program and may repeat multiple times, if necessary.
SMOKY MOUNTAIN WILD
TRAVEL & PREP
Cool Sports and KAHA offer a Select Program for our Rec League families who want to experience hockey outside of Knoxville, but don’t want the financial or time commitment of the full travel program.
Cool sports, in partnership with the Knoxville Amateur Hockey Association is the home facility for the travel hockey program. The travel program is an experience for “aa” and “a” caliber players. Kaha & cool sports offer several travel teams from squirt all the way up to U18 Midget.
These travel teams run independently from the cool sports rec league programs offered in-house.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT
CAMPS, CLINICS, & MORE
Cool Sports offers numerous opportunities for youth hockey players to attend clinics, camps, etc. all throughout the year!
Cool Sports’ summer hockey camp “Skills & Drills”: We combine 2 hours of ice each day with off ice training, recreational activities, & classroom sessions.
Rise & Grind: This program is geared toward more experienced youth hockey players who are looking to take their game to the next level.
Private | Small Group Lessons: We offer lessons via some of our certified and trained hockey & skating coaches in the area.
HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY
The high school hockey league at Cool Sports will not be offered for the 24-25 winter season. Our program plans for the league to return in the spring when more icetime is available.
When registration closes for our PW/B rec league mid-October, we will review the participants and potentially have an option for HS aged players after that.
